House System and Co-Curricular Activities

The House System at Mahatma Gandhi International School (MGIS) is designed to promote teamwork, leadership, and healthy competition among students.

House System

  • The school is divided into four houses: Griffin, Pegasus, Phoenix, and Unicorn.
  • Starting from Grade I, every student is assigned to one of these houses.
  • Each house is led by a House Captain (one boy and one girl) who act as role models and leaders.
  • A House Master/Mistress (a member of the staff) oversees the house, supported by other teacher members.

Point System and Awards

  • Houses earn points throughout the academic year by participating in extracurricular activities, games, and sports.
  • The house with the highest points at the end of the year is awarded the Rolling Trophy, symbolizing overall excellence and teamwork.

Inter-House Competitions

To encourage creativity, sportsmanship, and skill development, Inter-House Competitions are organized in various domains, including:

  • Sports: Athletics, team games, and other physical activities.
  • Debates: Encouraging critical thinking and public speaking.
  • Quizzes: Testing general knowledge and intellectual acumen.
  • Art and Music: Fostering creativity and cultural expression.
  • Other Co-Curricular Activities: Diverse opportunities for students to showcase their talents and develop holistically.

Through the house system and co-curricular activities, MGIS ensures students develop leadership qualities, collaborative skills, and a sense of pride in their accomplishments.
